GLOBAL INITIATIVE

Global CDL, through the engagement of Dr. Petkoski and other Global CDL associates, has been actively supporting two global initiatives:

IDEAS FOR ACTION

Since November 2014, the Office of the World Bank Group Senior Vice President Mahmoud Mohieldin and the Zicklin Center for Business Ethics Research, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania have been working together on the Ideas for Action (I4A) Initiative, which engages young people (18-35 years old) to develop innovative ideas, ranging from new startups to already established microenterprises, in support of the implementation of the SDGs. I4A has seen impressive growth in just six years. For example, thanks to local partners, the I4A Clubs globally, and more operational partnerships with the World Bank and IFC, 2019 was another groundbreaking year with 3,100 submitted applications, with around 10.000 team members from 142 countries and territories. There were more than 7,000 registered teams, with over 21.000 team members. The I4A newsletter is reaching over 18,000 subscribers.
Dr. Petkoski is the co-chair of the I4A Initiative.

SDGS & HER

In 2018, The World Bank Group, in partnership with UNDP, UN Women, and the Wharton
School’s Zicklin Center for Business Ethics Research, launched the SDGs&Her, an online competition to identify and honor outstanding women micro-entrepreneurs across the world, whose business operations help support the SDGs. The main objectives of the initiative are to: (i) recognize women implementing the SDGs, including women business owners of microenterprises; (ii) increase knowledge about the SDGs and their potential impacts on women among non-traditional audiences; and (iii) collaborate with private sector partners on all SDGs, but SDG5 in particular; to share best practices and innovative ideas.
Dr Petkoski is the co-chair of the SDGs&Her Initiative.
